That’s Not My [Detroit] Lion[s]

One of my daughter’s favorite books is called “That’s Not My Lion.” It has cartoon drawings of lions and has pieces of fabric to feel on each of the pages. The words go like this:

That’s not my lion … its not is too fuzzy.
That’s not my lion. Its ear are too soft.
That’s not my lion. Its paws are too rough.
That’s not my lion. Its tail is too fluffy.
That’s not my lion. Its teeth are too shiny.
That’s my lion … Its mane is so shaggy.

I was thinking that a book of successful Pro Football moments might be called “That’s Not my Detroit Lions.” The words for this story, matching the ever-heartbreaking history of my NFL team might go something like this:

That’s not my Detroit Lions … That team has a winning record.
That’s not my Detroit Lions. That O-lineman is making a block.
That’s not my Detroit Lions. That team is in the playoffs.
That’s not my Detroit Lions. That team ran for over 100 yards.
That’s not my Detroit Lions. That coach is making the right decision.
That’s my Detroit Lions … its defense is so porous.
